Jessica and Tom Celebrate at the Contemporary Art Museum!

Tom and Jessica choose the Contemporary Art Museum for their reception and with the help of Floral Works and a little uplighting provided by myself the room looked awesome. It has a very contemporary feel and fit the bride and groom perfectly. The reception was a blast, the groom is from New Zealand and a bunch of his Kiwi buddies flew in for the celebration…they definitely like to dance and party. The brides side was great as well, Jessica is Jewish so we started the dancing with a Hora and for the final song of the night the newlyweds chose the Kenny Rogers “The Gambler”. The floor was packed with everyone singing at the top of their lungs…too much fun!

Mike - hello!

We're catching our breath a bit from the wedding, and can't thank you enough for everything. Everyone had so much fun, as shown by the trouble you had getting us off the dance floor at the end. The Hora was just perfect, and you were great in starting it up, and letting everyone know which way to go. We had many comment that the wedding weekend was the most fun they'd had in ten years!

We enjoyed every minute, and we're so happy we picked you as our DJ!

Best,
Jessica

Stevie Wonder Brings Down the House!

I was one of the lucky 1400 that got to see Stevie Wonders 1st concert appearance in 10 years, let me tell you it was a show to remember. While he could sell out Coors he chose small venues for this tour because in his words "I wanted to be able to hear my fans sing along!" The show ran 2 hours and 20 minutes and it was amazing, we were on our feet for most of the night!

Karaoke Crazy!

On Wednesday I was at the Westin Horton Plaza to do a corporate Karaoke event and they added a new twist…the American Idol judges were there! It was a little competition between four regions and they each had a song to wow the judges and the audience. Randy, Paula and Simon were on hand to critique the performance and the audience all had wireless response units where they could vote for their favorite act. The teams went all out and it was a lot of fun!

Casino Royale!

Casino parties are still a big hit for a corporate event and Tuesday nights was no exception. After the companies awards dinner they all headed into the casino which was done in a James Bond theme complete with shadow dancers for a night of gaming. We had blackjack, craps, roulette and poker, Casino Del Sol provided the equipment and the dealers and did a great job! I kept a James Bond / Vegas feel music theme going and the music kept the gamblers pumping all night.

Congratulations Travis and Amanda!

I'm partial to the Catamaran as that's where I got married and I always seem to have great receptions there, Amanda and Travis's was no exception. They were a really fun couple to work with and picked out a lot of their own music, they did a good job and anything 80's seemed to be the crowd favorites. Most of the guests were from out of town and the party stayed strong right up to midnight!

Joe & Carolyn Beat the Heat!

Joe and Carolyn call Phoenix home but they knew it was a little hot there for an August wedding so they and about 60 friends packed the bags and headed for La Jolla. The ceremony and reception took place at the La Valencia and as always the food, service and view were phenomenal. The couple wanted everybody to be cool and comfortable so resort attire was the call for the evening...it was perfect. It was a great night and a fine time was had by all!

Party at Jack's Place!

Jack in the Box does a week long employee celebration every year and I got to provide the music on Monday & Tuesday. It was a Venice Beach theme and every day something different was going on. On Monday we had corn dogs, a spray paint tattoo artist and a rock climbing wall, Tuesday it was Cold Stone Ice Cream, free sunglasses and jugglers. There were other attractions every day and the employees had a great time...Jack knows how to treat the team!

Davin & Crista at the Del...What a Night!

The Ballroom at the Hotel Del Coronado has got to be just about the classiest location in San Diego to host a reception, it looked fabulous for Crista and Davin's celebration. The coordinator was Victoria Schroeder of Coronado Weddings and working with Botanica they designed an incredible look for the room, it was awesome seeing the expression of absolute joy on Crista's face when she walked in for the 1st time! It was a great night of dancing and celebration, Davin and Crista kicked it off with a John Michael Montgomery classic for the 1st dance and the floor was full from that point on. For a late snack, mini pizza's and Kobe beef burgers were brought out!

Best Wishes to Matthew & Stephanie!

On Sunday I was at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club for Stephanie & Matthew's reception. It's long been a favorite location of mine and I've had a lot of great weddings there including this one. It was a wonderful reception with the cutest ring bearer and flower girl that I've seen in awhile, the best man came all the way from Norway for the celebration and gave a toast that brought out the tears. A fine time was had by all!

Doug & Ashley Party Under the Stars!

Doug and Ashley chose to have their reception in the tent at the Coronado Marriott and that is one of the neatest locations around. You are about 15 yards from the water with the Coronado Bridge on one side and downtown San Diego on the other, the view and setting is spectacular! The reception was a smash hit with friends and family keeping the dance floor full all night. They also had a chocolate fountain for the guests and that was a big hit as well, they were a fun couple and the night flew by!

Angela and John O'Hara Celebrate as Only the Irish Can!

Take a big Irish family, put them in a room and give them something to celebrate and you have a great time on your hands! That is exactly what happened at Mr. & Mrs. O'Hara's Wedding Celebration at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. The ceremony was on the lawn and then into the Catalina Room for dinner and dancing. The flowers were white so we added a little green uplighting for color and the room looked great. It was an awesome dance crowd and they kept the floor full until I wrapped it up at midnight. The Irish know how to have fun!

FUN at MCAS Miramar!

Recall wrapped up their National Conference with an awards dinner on Thursday at Miramar and I was happy to be brought back to join them. With some great lighting they transformed a hanger on the flight line into an event venue. Along with tours of the aircraft, we had a full casino and shadow dancers to go along with the awards. A little dancing took place to wrap up the night and then they headed back to the Rancho Bernardo Inn. They were a great group to work with and from what I understand the conference was a huge success!

Giving Back at MCAS Miramar!

On Tuesday I got to work with a company by the name of "Recall", they are a data management company and had their national sales meeting here in San Diego. Instead of the usual golf tournament they were all bused to Miramar on Tuesday for a little team building and community service. We split them up into teams and had them assembling back packs for wounded soldiers, food bags for military families and new born packs for recent babies. While it was a little hot and sweaty in the warehouse they all gave 110% and I don't think anyone missed the golf. It's great to see companies giving back, I helped facilitate the event and provided a little music to keep up the team spirit.
